Rodgers and Hart and Hammerstein
January 22 - February 21, 2010

It's always a grand night for singing at Quality Hill Playhouse, especially when the music is by Richard Rodgers. This intimate cabaret revue celebrates Rodgers' two great partnerships in musical theatre and the American Songbook.

With Lorenz Hart, Rodgers wrote songs that were witty and romantic (“I Wish I Were In Love Again,” “This Can’t Be Love,” “My Funny Valentine”), while with Oscar Hammerstein II he was the eternal optimist (“You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,” “Some Enchanted Evening”).

Director, arranger and emcee J. Kent Barnhart has selected works by each songwriting team that highlight how the two lyricists influenced Rodgers’ style.

Melinda MacDonald, Barnhart, Alison Sneegas Borberg and Charles Fugate (as shown in the top photos, left to right), accompanied by Steven Lenhert on bass and Ken Remmert on drums, will bring to life the nearly three dozen songs in the revue, selected from such musicals as Jumbo, Babes In Arms, The King and I, South Pacific, The Sound of Music and more.
